Launched!

I've officially launched on Kickstarter for my Spindle Card project!

I'm very excited, nervous, happy and scared, all at the same time! Is that even possible?
Within the first 10 minutes of launch, I had my first two backers of limited edition decks. It's pretty exciting.

Can't wait to see what the next 29 days brings! :)

Spindle Cards project submitted to Kickstarter

Despite illness plaguing me for the last couple of days, I'm very excited to say my Spindle Cards have been submitted to Kickstarter. Hopefully next week it will be able to go live.

I'm still a bucket of nerves about the whole experience, but I'm hopeful it will go well. Don't worry, I will post a link once everything goes live.

Here's a quick preview of my potential rewards (these may change if the Project Specialist through Kickstarter determines they're not suitable...)

The "Previews" will be for the extra five element cards
that belong in the Limited Edition deck.

Wish me luck!

A Riddle For You...

Here's a riddle for you!
What do Wolves and Stags have in common?

...
...
Give up?
I don't blame you. It doesn't make much sense to me either, unless you consider them both in the running to rule "The Forest Court."

While still in its very early stages, I'm happy to say that I am working on a card game! It will be an actual poker-sized deck for two people to play against one another. Ideally, I would like to expand this into other animal families (Bears and Cats are two that come to mind) and be a four-player game, but I figured I would start small until I get the rules ironed out.

The basic premise is this:
"The time has come when all the animal families of the forest come together to determine which will be the reigning Forest Court for the next year.
Each family races to find and place 10 golden apples under the largest oak tree in the forest as an offering to the Great Forest Spirit. The first family to complete its offering is named the Forest Court."

The game involves placing apple cards on the table, defending them, and sabotaging your opponent's stack of apples, all while trying to get to 10 apples first.

Once I get some of the artwork nailed down, and have tested out the rules with a regular deck of cards, I'll make a few more posts about this project. I'm still not even sure what to name it, ha ha! I just wanted my readers to be the first to hear about it.

Be sure to check out and follow my Facebook page for sneak previews of any artwork that comes out.

Spindle Card Preview

I made a video!
Ok, so it's a pretty basic video, but I'm pretty proud of it regardless.

The video features a quick view of all the artwork used to create the Spindle Card decks when they go to final print. I'm still waiting to receive my test-deck, after which I will look into starting a Kickstarter project to help fund the final product. It seems like a big undertaking though, so hopefully it works out well!

Please take a quick look at the video. The music is "Prelude No. 3" by Chris Zabriskie. It's less than two minutes, so I promise it won't take up much of your time!

Thanks for watching! More info on the potential Kickstarter project soon.

First Decks Ordered

I'm a bundle of nerves after a small mishap with the card boxes earlier this week, but I'm also very happy to say that I have ordered my first decks of Spindle Cards! I got a small test run ordered to make sure I am content with the printing before I order the stock I will be carrying with me for the next little while.

Obviously, this means I have finished drawing all of my Spindle Cards.

Leap and Clarity, as they will be seen in their card form.

Some of the last cards to be drawn were Air and Spirit cards. I found this interesting because Air and Spirit were also a few of my first to be finished! Now I get to wait for the order to come in. Don't worry, I'll be sure to post photos of them once I have them in hand.

Calgary Table Location

Two posts in a row! It's like I'm on a roll or something...
Truthfully, it's because yesterday I got an email from the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo with my booth number. Hooray!
You can find me at S07 in Artist Alley.

To help you find me, I've made what I hope is a coherent map.

Yup, that's me, right next to the post.

A reminder too, that I'll be offering Spindle Card readings over the weekend, in either a 3- or 5-card spread. I'm hoping the post next to me will be able to be used to my advantage and give people a place to sit during the reading.

I'm getting excited. Cheers!
